The
Medical Laboratory Technologists Board started a 3-year pilot scheme
on continuing professional development (CPD) on 1 January 2005.
Following the completion of the pilot scheme in December 2007, a
voluntary CPD scheme has been implemented with effect from 1 May
2008. The voluntary scheme will be run on an annual cycle from 1
May to 30 April. In the future, CPD may become a mandatory requirement
upon legislative amendment, the fulfillment of which will be tied
to the renewal of practising certificates. All registered medical
laboratory technologists are cordially invited to participate in
the voluntary scheme. Details of the scheme are listed below.
